In 2017, Caltech offered a special session of Professor Mike Brown's "Science of the Solar System" online course to alumni and friends. In addition to the materials offered in the public version of the course, this cohort participated in live video office hours, their own discussion boards for peer and instructor interactions, and a live broadcast of a special Caltech event about the course. This unique offering won the 2018 CASE District VII Awards of Excellence Gold Award for Best Use of Social Media/Technology.
